Mozart Flute Quartet in D

Recorded Live

Church of the Presidents, Quincy, MA - 1991
With Clay Hoener, Violin; Scott Wollweaver, Viola; Andy Mark, Cello.

The recording is an excerpt from Music and Politics of the 18th Century, an “In-Performance” production for Continental Cablevision of Cambridge, Massachusetts produced by Virginia Sindelar.

The full program features music that would have been heard by President John Adams, his wife Abigail, their son President John Quincy Adams and his wife Louisa Catherine while traveling in England, France and Prussia from 1797-1829.  John Quincy played the flute and Louisa Catherine played the harp and sang.

Historical research and narration was by Reverend Sheldon Bennett Ph.D.  In addition to the Mozart Flute Quartet, music performed included a Swiss flute tune march from John Quincy’s notebook, and the music of Handel, Krumpholz, Loeillet, Quantz, CPE Bach, and Glinka.

The program featured members of the Scarborough Chamber Players — Virginia Sindelar, Flute; Anna Sorrano, Soprano; and guest artists Clay Hoener, Violin; Andy Mark, Cello; Scott Woolweaver, Viola; and Mary Jane Rupert, Harp and Harpsichord
